Tips To Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

13 March 2017

Makeup is such a beautiful thing, it enhances your natural features and can make you feel so much more confident with in yourself.

On the other hand, there are techniques and products that don't enhance your features to the fullest. Specifically today we are going to be talking eyes, there are so many products on the market that make your eyes appear so much smaller than they are.

I went years using the wrong products and doing certain techniques that made my eyes appear smaller than what they really are. I don't have smallest eyes but they also aren't huge so over the course of the last couple of years I've learnt some tips on how to enhance the size of my eyes rather than close them up, So today I'm here to share them!

1. Lets start with eyeshadow, dark shadows (blacks, dark browns, greys) all over the lid will close your eyes up and make them appear a lot smaller. Instead of putting a dark colour over your whole eye, try applying your darkest shade in your crease only and popping a nice light shade (beige, gold, silver etc.) on your lid to really brighten up your eyeshadow look, and make that eyelid appear much bigger.

2. Eyeliner, many people avoid this as it has a common misconception of closing up the eye, which it can. There is a fine line between it making the eye look bigger to smaller. A nice simple thin line along your top lash line really opens up and lifts your eye. Also a nice simple winged eyeliner can also surprisingly lift your eye, and create an 'illusion' of a much wider eye shape.

3. While we are on the topic of eyeliner a quick simple tip is to apply a white or beige eyeliner to your bottom water line, and that will instantly brighten your eye.

4. Another really simple technique is to apply a light shimmery coloured eyeshadow into your inner corner, everyday with our doubt I do this, it again really brightens and opens the eye. If you have gone with a darker crease that day you will notice a difference. Doing this simple step is also the best and most noticeable way to widen your eye shape.

5. My final tip is to curl those lashes! This technique INSANTLY opens up your eye!

My Top 5 Makeup Tips

15 June 2015

Today I wanted to share with you all my top 5 makeup tips! I love reading posts like these and learning about other peoples makeup tips and tricks. So here are my top 5 makeup tips that I live by and do everyday!

1. Always Apply Makeup On A Clean Face: Now this may seem obvious, but so many people don't wash their face in the morning. I think it's good to cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and night, as over the course of the night your face develops excess oil and dirt, and I could not imagine putting  makeup on top of that, so I think it's very important to cary out your skin care routine even in the morning.

2. It's A Crime Not To Prime: I'm sure every girl has heard this saying by now, but it's so true.... Primer is so important, well to me anyway! Using a primer ensures that your makeup will last longer, and I mean who doesn't want that. It also minimises any fine lines and wrinkles. I personally like using a pore minimising primer since I have quite large pores, and it fills them in.

3. Use A Different Concealer For The Undereyes and Blemishes: I have learnt this the hard way. I went through a stage of using my blemish concealer under my eyes, and yeah it covered the darkness but the creasing was crazy bad, It looked horrible. I then decided I needed a thinner concealer, so I bought one specifically for under the eyes, and used it on my blemishes, which obviously highlighted them. So I have learnt the hard way, it is better to invest in two seperate concealers.

4. Blend Blend and Blend A Bit More: this basically applies to anything in makeup, but im specifically talking about the eyshadow department. I think a lot of people just apply the shadow and that's it done, and if that's what you like then keep doing it like that! But I really like to spend a lot of time blending out any harsh lines, blending back and forth in windshield wiper motions, I find this the most effective way. To me I think a perfectly blended eyeshadow look is so beautiful.

5. Curl Those Lashes: I swear by eyelash curlers. By curling my lashes it lifts them so therefor my eyes appear larger. It also separates and lengthens my lashes. You can find lash curlers for $5 so I really reccomend using one if you don't already.
